13 Months

13 months tomorrow. So much changes from month to month, but it seems this month in particular has shown us the most change.

Sizing up: Harrison has an appointment with his primary doctor in two weeks for a weight/height check. On his tube surgery day two weeks ago he weighed in at 20 lbs 1 ounce. As a reward for his continue good eating on Christmas Day we turned Harrison's car seat around. It's like a whole new world facing forward! Like I said, Harrison does a good job eating and until today he ate everything I gave him. Apparently Banana Oatmeal is not a hit---he took three bites and gagged every time. Perhaps it's a texture issue. I plan to retry in a couple days. Formula consumption is dwindling. We went from 3 bottles a day down to two a couple of weeks ago. Within the last week he has only taken his morning bottle. For some substitution I have tried to give him "milk" formula with his meals and unlike juice--he tosses it to the side. At the coming appointment in January we will be talking about switching to whole milk, which I gave the go a head to start that at meal times at daycare.

Communication: This is where we have seen the largest leap this month. Bye, bye is the latest word added to the vocabulary and he can't get enough of waving and patty-caking. For daddy's sake we are still working on da da. Some other fun things include whispering---Harrison can't get enough of it, he thinks it's the funniest thing ever.  I have some video of it that I will post. He has become quite the tickle bug. He rolls on the floor laughing when you blow or poke his tummy and he will fall to the ground laughing when you tickle his chin. Fake sneezes, coughs, or hiccups also makes him giggle. When you say, "Where is daddy?" or "Where is Whitney Dog?" he will look to see where they are. Stranger anxiety is also on the rise.

Mobile: Crawling, crawling, crawling! Harrison is on the move...it's hard to not catch him as he cruises by you. The newest component of crawling is climbing. Harrison can climb or entire set of stairs at home, which I must add includes 19 stairs! (Thank goodness for jail gates, I mean safety gates). Are we getting any closer to walking? In the short, no....in the long partially. Harrison can cruise furniture like it's nothing, but when it comes to letting go...that's what stops him in his tracks. Doug and I have made it a point to work with him every night on this. Really we believe he has the ability to walk, but when he can crawl, why walk?

Healthy: Harrison is the healthiest he has been since May. Hopefully this course continues. His ear infections continue to heal and for once in 3 months I am not chasing after him with a Kleenex wiping his nose. I am pretty sure he is has been pleased with this. Hopefully I haven't jinxed him as I blog about this, knock on wood.

Sleep, sleep, sleep: OK, most people wouldn't complain about a sleeping baby, but this has been a cause of concern for me for the past 5 days. Harrison has been awake today for a grand total of 4 1/2 hours today and at the most 6 hours yesterday... He is awake long enough to eat and play for about an hour and a half and is crabby for a half hour and falls back asleep. Maybe it's a growth spurt? Or a busy weekend? We aren't sure. But this isn't like him to have to woken up for bath time and dinner.

Enjoy a couple of 13 month photos and be sure to check out the two posts from earlier today.

I love this next one...a new little photo shop trick I learned!

In the Kitchen...

I caught Harrison digging in the drawer...

"Momma, let's bake!"

Yummy!

So, what was best part of taking today off work?

Toys, Toys, Toys...

There is no shortage of toys around here! Between Santa, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends our home bursting to it seams! We are now home to a Tickle Me Elmo Extreme, Little People Airport, Weebles, puzzles, books, tool set, Sing with me Personalized Elmo & Veggie Tales music CDs, Mickey Mouse Ball Club-house, musical turtle, Little Tykes ball popper and list goes on... On top of toys Harrison is going to be looking pretty handsome in some new stylish clothes and fleece footie pajamas (Mommy is about to buy her own self some footie pajamas).

So...you would think with Harrisons new loot we would be done with Christmas, right?

WRONG.

Two words...

GIFT CARDS.

Mommy and daddy left Harrison in the care of Grandma and Grandpa today and we spent the day shopping...well browsing, trying to narrow down toy storage options. There is just way too much to choose from and mommy and daddy can't seem to compromise... We are quickly out growing our home...For one little boy---he sure takes up A LOT of space!

Yesterday was so busy I only had time to give a blurb of our first real Christmas, so here is the rest.

Friday afternoon we drove to the Twin Cities to Christmas with Grandma Judy and Grandpa Larry.

Here Harrison is helping daddy unload the luggage at the hotel.

I just love this photo---he looks so grown up.

Moments later he found himself in the bathroom flushing the toilet and unrolling the toilet paper---pretty cute sight, definitely not child-proofed!

He looks less than thrilled here with Mommy & Daddy...

After a messy ravioli dinner and the unwrapping of presents, Harrison was down for the count.
Mommy and Daddy joined Uncle Matt and Mark and hopped into the hot tub while Grandma and Grandpa stayed back with Harrison. Boy did those bubbles do us good... 2 1/2 hours later we made our way back to our room sporting enough wrinkles for a 90 year old. We headed back to grandma and grandpas room and rolled Harrison down the hall to our room in his pack and play and not even a stir he made until 6 am. This is like a record for Harrison...most of mornings begin by 5 am and he had never once slept through the night at a hotel. Santa sure delivered for Mommy and Daddy.

On Saturday, Christmas Day we made our way to Uncle Eric's and Aunt Kim's house.

Harrison got to see his cousins...

These photos were the first pictures of all the kids together.

Look who else was there...

And here is probably one of the sweetest pictures ever of Grandma and Harrison and I think you will agree!

MORE Presents!

Here it is...the day after Christmas and Harrison opened his final gifts today...He started opening them last Wednesday... It's exhausting work!

Thank you everyone for all the gifts and wonderful Christmas. We are truly blessed.

Merry Christmas 2010

Christmas 2010

December 25, 2009 we spent 14 priceless hours in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) holding on to the best thing in this world.

                                        2009                                                           2010

Here we are, one year later...

SANTA CAME, SANTA CAME!

Who are we kidding to say Christmas it is today, it feels like Christmas everyday.

People say, your life really changes when you start having children. And, you know what? People are right.

Life is a lot like (no, not a box of chocolates)...    Brad Paisley's song, " I thought I loved you then." Just when you think you couldn't possibly love someone or something love grows...just like our friend Mr. Grinch. But unlike the Grinch, our love has grown beyond three sizes this year.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Love,

Doug, Amanda and Harrison

ART WORK!

Did I ever mention that Harrison has the best daycare?

On top of having an awesome crew there...Harrison comes home with this amazing work of art!

The antlers are Harrison hands and the face is his foot---couldn't possibly any more adorable!

And check out one of the photos they sent home...Harrison is playing it cool!

Ear drops, no good.

Harrison has had his first allergic reaction to medication. The ear drops prescribed to treat Harrison's ear infection were not effectively treating the infection and has caused a rash on his chest and abdomen. I am seriously starting to think that this child is never going to get a break!

An oral antibiotic was started today along with new drops for his ears. Hopefully after 10 days of antibiotics and drops we can FINALLY say goodbye to ear infections for good!

6 months of this crude is enough already!

My mommy buys me the cutest clothes!

See!

We just love, love, love this boy!!!!
